Learn about feminist activism in Pakistan and the movement for gender equality.
Students will work with Professor Filomena Critelli whose project examines the implementation of sexual harassment laws and the impact of the #metoo movement in Pakistan. The project involves the transcription of recorded in-depth interviews that explore the perspectives of feminist activists and other key stakeholders who have been involved in efforts to address sexual harassment and implementation of the law.Sexual harassment has been recognized as one of the biggest hurdles faced by working women in Pakistan and it is an important human rights issue that has been central to the women's movement there. The interviews were conducted in English and are about 90 minutes in length. Students with familiarity with South Asian language and culture are preferred. The project requires strong attention to detail, good typing, and time management skills. Interested students should contact me by email.
The transcribed interviews will be analyzed using qualitative methods.
