Learn more about the experiences of people with disabilities and how people with different kinds of disabilities interact with others.
The UBSH lab is looking to conduct a series of online and in-person research studies to learn more about the experiences of people with visible (e.g., mobility disabilities) and less visible (e.g., mood disorders) disabilities by examining how they disclose or share information about their disabilities to others in their lives. This project will include questionnaires asking people with disabilities about aspects of how they share their identity with others as well as how these experiences impact their health and well-being. We will also conduct an in-lab study where people with disabilities interact with people without disabilities to examine potential tensions that may come up in disability-related conversations. Student research assistants would gain firsthand experience working with participants and collecting psychological study data.
Students engaging in this lab will collect data and have the opportunity to share findings from that data with others in the form of a poster or writing project.
