Explore dogs' cognitive limits by helping researchers test their understanding of abstract concepts through creative training and testing strategies.
The scientific aim of this project is to describe the range of learning capacity and cognitive abilities in dogs using precisely controlled behavioral experiments, with special emphasis on learning, memory, and concept formation. Understanding the factors that determine intellectual abilities in dogs can increase our understanding of why and how humans vary in their mental abilities. Students will get hands-on experience helping train dogs to perform various tasks.
The specific outcomes of this project will be identified by the faculty mentor at the beginning of your collaboration.
