Seeking students to characterize gene expression patterns in mosquito embryos, regulatory sequences in transgenic fly and mosquito models, and explore the function of regulatory elements through mutagenesis.
We are using a combination of cell culture based assays to determine how dietary components might affect the metastatic potential of prostate cancer cells.
Students will participate in a USDA-funded project to identify and characterize gene regulatory sequences throughout the genomes of 50 or more insects of agricultural and biomedical importance.
Students will engage in mentored projects under the leadership of Dr. Stephanie Anzman-Frasca, conducting laboratory- and community-based studies in the area of children’s eating behavior and obesity prevention.
Students will engage in research that includes biochemical studies of fork rescue enzymes in vivo, in vitro and on single molecules of DNA.
Students will work at the bench to purify and characterize enzymes that play key roles in homologous recombination and DNA repair.
Students will utilize in vitro and in vivo transcription assays to analyze the function and regulation of nuclear actin and nuclear myosins.
