We, the Center for Diversity Innovation’s inaugural cohort of Distinguished Visiting Scholars, adamantly believe that Black hopes, Black dreams, and Black Lives Matter.
Like many of you, we are hurt, angered, and disappointed. The grand jury’s failure to charge the three Louisville, Kentucky, officers who shot and killed Breonna Taylor during a botched raid of her home is a miscarriage of justice. Moreover, the perpetual state-sanctioned killing of Black men, women, and children in the U.S. reflects a global disregard for Black lives and our collective humanity.
During our time at the University at Buffalo, we’d like to personally affirm our commitment to the respect and the inherent value of Black lives, our never ending demand for justice, and our staunch belief in our collective humanity. Importantly, we would like to publicly commit to working with you to affirm, celebrate, and proudly declare that Black Lives Matter. We are looking forward to learning with you and building a better tomorrow.
Yours in Service,
Terri, Victoria, Waverly, Mishuana,
