The University at Buffalo Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Community Advisory Board was established to inform the CTSI about community priorities and offer suggestions about how it can better align research with those priorities. The Board guides the CTSI on how to build authentic community-university relationships and trust and provides insights into achieving health equity.

“Together, we work to increase the relevance and effectiveness of research,” says CTSI Community Engagement Core Director Laurene Tumiel-Berhalter, PhD, Director of Community Translational Research, Department of Family Medicine, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

“The overarching priority of the CTSI is to advance research to improve the health of our community,” says CTSI Director Timothy F. Murphy, MD, SUNY Distinguished Professor. “The Community Advisory Board provides valuable guidance toward achieving that goal together.”

To further its mission to engage community voices in all activities and to disseminate the CTSI’s work to the broader community, the Board is seeking new members. Applications and nominations are due January 31; see here for application/nomination details.

The Board meets four times per year and consists of 12 members from Erie and Niagara counties. To submit your application or nomination, fill out a brief form on the CTSI website. Community Advisory Board applications/nominations are due by January 31.
