This project will train graduate students to provide empirically supported, team-based addictions prevention and treatment services in integrated behavioral health-primary care settings located in underserved Western New York communities.
UB students in the HRSA Behavioral Health/Substance Use Disorder (BH/SUD) Scholars Program will receive enhanced addictions education, including clinical placements in integrated care settings as well as comprehensive, interprofessional addictions and behavioral health training and workshops. Advanced training in empirically supported practices will be provided also to faculty and field supervisors associated with the project. Graduate students from four professional programs will be invited to become HRSA BH/SUD Scholars: (1) Mental Health Counseling (MS degree); (2) Rehabilitation Counseling (MS degree); (3) Social Work (MSW degree); and (4) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree).
