  • UB has kicked off the spring semester with extensive plans and protocols in place, including a modified in-person instruction format and greatly reduced density on campus. In a message to the UB community, President Satish K. Tripathi wished students, faculty and staff a safe and successful start and thanked all for their continued compliance with safety measures.

  • During a visit to UB last weekend, SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras announced that SUNY will soon establish a new lab on UB’s South Campus to improve surveillance testing capacity and turnaround time for all Western New York SUNY campuses. 

  • Several changes are in place in campus libraries this semester, including a swipe-card entry system at Lockwood and Abbott, a check-in system at Silverman, a new locker system that allows pickup of requested materials outside of a library building, and more.

    • Staying safe this semester. This welcome back message from the dean of students outlines important reminders about health and safety expectations.
    • Weekly testing to start. Mandatory weekly COVID-19 surveillance testing begins the week of Feb. 8. Students with campus contact have received an email with instructions on how to make an appointment.
    • Virtual Study Abroad Fair. Participants can learn about 80+ UB programs, connect with representatives from UB’s partner universities overseas, get information on financial aid and available scholarships, and more at a Zoom event on Feb. 10.
