For all the latest news and updates, consult UB's COVID-19 site.
Earlier this week, much of Erie County was designated an “orange” COVID-19 cluster zone by the state. While the university will offer in-person instruction until Nov. 24 as planned, on-campus gatherings are now limited to 10 people, in-person student clubs and activities are suspended, and campus dining and food service operations are offering takeout service only. Athletics activities for fall sports will continue as scheduled.
In consultation with the Erie County health department, SUNY and the New York State Department of Health, UB will continue in-person classes as scheduled until Tuesday, Nov. 24. Thanksgiving recess takes place from Wednesday, Nov. 25, to Saturday, Nov. 28. After the break, UB transitions to fully remote instruction, with the exception of certain clinical, laboratory and other activities. The fall semester concludes Dec. 21.
UB experts remind students, faculty and staff that a negative COVID-19 test result is not a guarantee that a person is not or will not become infectious. The entire UB community is urged to avoid or minimize gatherings and to follow all health and safety recommendations. Downloadable digital signage is available to help spread this message on campus.
UB Forward will take a break next week, resuming Friday, Dec. 4.
