One of the most important things we can do is to work together to build and sustain a culture that takes our health, public health and the safety of others seriously. As we return to campus students, faculty and staff must all follow a shared set of behavioral expectations to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. We have a mutual responsibility to keep ourselves and each other safe.
We continue to actively communicate UB’s health and safety guidelines and standards through posters, signage, emails, websites, virtual town hall settings, social media and in-person discussions.
For those members of the university community who do not follow these guidelines, our first priority and initial step is to respectfully engage them in conversation.
There are protocols in place to handle situations where students or employees are not following UB’s health guidelines, and are continuously putting others’ health and safety at risk.
Students are expected to comply with the Student Compliance Policy for COVID-19 Public Health Behavior Expectations on campus. If a student is continuously in violation of UB’s health guidelines and endangering the health and safety of members of the campus community:
If an employee is continuously in violation of UB’s health guidelines and putting others at risk, their supervisor should be notified and each situation will be handled on a case by case basis.
UB’s HR department has put in place an Advocate program whereby UB employees are trained to have conversations with individuals on campus who are not following the university and public health protocols.
