How were UB’s health and safety guidelines determined?

Our guidelines are based on the most recent scientific research on effective methods for preventing the spread of COVID-19. They were informed by the latest guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), New York State Department of Health, and SUNY, as well as UB experts in infectious diseases, laboratory medicine and public health. Every element of this plan was developed with the goal of providing the safest environment possible for all members of the university community.

The guidelines were part of a planning process, chaired by the provost, which involved more than 180 faculty, staff and students. Student feedback was and continues to be factored into the guidelines, through surveys performed by AAU and involving UB students, and in feedback obtained from dozens of students on UB’s social media channels.
