Timeline for SURF Fellows:

  • Students will be paired with a UB faculty mentor who will get in touch soon after acceptance
  • Mentors will provide title/abstract of research project, and will send journal articles to read to prepare students for research in their lab

  • At Orientation, SURF students will apply for ASPET membership online---(CLIMB UP staff will write endorsement letter to complete the application during first week)

    Overview of CLIMB UP Activities
  • Attend Introduction to Laboratory Skills Course 
  • Conduct research in a mentor's lab in various areas of drug discovery and translational research
  • Attend weekly BIOSTEM lecture
  • Attend research communications workshops with peer mentors to work on posters and oral presentations
  • Present poster and/or presentation at Research Days 
  • Complete evaluation at end of summer

 

Students are funded by an American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Grant and matching funds by University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
