Modern prosthetic devices are sensory based biorobotic systems driven by human biosignals. This course will examine these devices, how they work, and how to prototype them using open-source electronics. Students will learn hands-on skills developing a prototype prosthesis using Arduino compatible modules such as: EMG sensors, motors, microcontrollers, etc. By the end of the course, students will have built a functioning mechatronic system for a prosthetic device, and will have a broad understanding in prototyping for biomedical engineering.
