Supervised field experience in an area of library or information service selected on the basis of the student's interest. Provides an opportunity for the student to practice and observe in a real working situation under the supervision of a practicing information specialist and a faculty member of LIS and to practice functioning as a reflective practitioner. The practicum requires 40 hours of work in the field for each credit hour and a written report. Prerequisite: completion of at least 12 credit hours toward the MLS degree, including at least three core courses. Students may apply no more than nine credit hours of LIS 524, 525, 526, 527, 598, and 599 combined to the MLS. | |||||||
