In this course, students will work in teams to design and code text-based MMO games for web browsers. Building on an assumed familiarity with HTML and Javascript, this course introduces the node.js web app framework, data storage with MondoDB, secure user registration and authentication, managing web sockets for live multiplayer play, and managing shared source code through GitHub. Students will furthermore critically analyze the conventions of the MMO genre in order to further their own practices as game designers. |
