Introduction to Nanophysics and Nanotechnology. This course will start with basics of solid state physics and effects of confinement that underlie most nanoscale physics and techniques. Then it will cover key concepts of nanoscale microscopy and spectroscopy, quantum transport, electron spin as a qubit, Josephson effect and SQUID, MEMS/NEMS, recent developments in 2D materials, molecular and inorganic semiconductors. Ethical issues in nanotechnology and energy in the nanoscale will also be discussed. This is a 3 credit course.
