Fall 2022: Colonial Legacies
This course concerns novels, short stories, and essays of twentieth-century Latin America that revisit or critically examine conquest history, indigenous traditions, and ongoing cycles of oppression, as rooted in colonial experience, alongside questions of modernity and national or gendered identities. Readings from Octavio Paz, Rosario Castellanos, and Juan José Saer, among others. |
