Math and Medications: The Foundations for Safe Patient Care: This course is designed to introduce students to foundational information surrounding the safe use of medications by using basic calculations. Integrating basic math with physiochemical properties of medications will help the student appreciate general dosing principles. Dosing will be based on volume of distributions, clearance, lab values, and other factors. Discussions will involve a diverse ray of medications from Over The Counter (OTC) vitamins to Radioactive Isotopes. Practical application will be emphasized throughout the course.
