  Course Description
The course consists of the study of normal morphology of blood cells in Wright-stained smears of blood followed by a study of the development of blood cells in the marrow. Once sufficient knowledge of normal blood films and bone marrow smears is attained a library of pathologic cases are studied and assessed. Each case is considered an unknown and a diagnosis is reached by the instructor and students examining the slides simultaneously on a multiple person microscope. By the end of the course, the student will have gained knowledge regarding the fundamentals of clinical microscopic hematology as well as experience in the recognition and identification of a broad spectrum of hematologic diseases.
