  Course Description
LIS 524 provides exposure to a variety of topics and experiences that pertain to the roles 21st Century library media specialists perform as leaders, instructional partners, information specialists, educators, innovators, and program administrators. Carefully designed, clinically rich, theme-based learning activities foster the development of a professional repertoire of skills, dispositions, and knowledge. These occur at locations geographically near students that fulfill the mandated 100 field experience hours required for pre-service library media specialists. Authentic learning activities serve as general reference models to connect field experiences with the students¿ overall education. This course is a program requirement and must be taken in the first academic year. LIS 524 is only offered during the fall semester and is a pre-requisite for LIS 532, LIS 585 and LIS 525.
