Course Description |
 |
 |
In Buffalo alone, over 70 different languages are spoken in homes. This course explores implications of linguistic, cultural and other forms of diversity for those concerned with the education and development of children from birth-age 8. Related problems/issues will be dealt with in such a way that those taking this class will be able to better support in children: (1) a knowledgeable, confident self-identity (2) a comfortable, empathetic interaction with diverse people (3) a critical attitude toward bias and (4) a propensity to stand up for her/himself and for others in the face of bias. It will also assist participants I developing better coalitions with families of diverse students. |
