  Course Description
Teaches the analytical tools necessary to effectively tackle the problem of designing the layout of a productive facility. Both non-quantitative and quantitative, computer-based approaches are detailed. The course also discusses location problems, i.e., analytical methods to determine optimal locations of machines/workcenters in a manufacturing facility. Also, the course discusses warehouse storage policies, i.e., analytical methods for effective management of warehouse storage space. Finally, there is discussion of automated guided vehicles and their utility in a modern flexible manufacturing system.
