About the Faculty Academies

Our Online Teaching Academies are designed to help faculty develop and reimagine their current teaching practices in online learning environments. Upon completion of these academies, faculty will create meaningful artifacts that enhance their online pedagogical approach and provide evidence of investment in evolving their teaching.

The academies utilize a faculty-learning community framework, bringing together small groups of faculty to learn, share and explore the art of teaching and the science of learning. Each academy consists of four sessions: a two-hour interactive workshop and an optional third hour for individualized support.

Designing and building online courses

Learn how to apply and implement best practices for design, assessment, engagement, and technology integration. Faculty who participate in this academy will be building customized components of their online course. Sessions include: Course Design; Course Framework; Content Creation; and Student Interactions.

Evaluating and facilitating online courses

Please complete Design and Build Online Courses before taking Evaluate and Facilitate Online Courses.

Learn how to assess and improve your online course utilizing research-based evaluation tools. Explore methods and strategies for building a learning community, establishing your instructor presence and supporting students in reaching your course’s learning outcomes. Sessions include: Evaluation Tools; QSCQR Rubric; Learning Community; and Student Success.
