Nonlinear waves; integrable systems.
Nicholas Ossi's research deals with "integrable" nonlinear partial differential and difference equations that model the propagation of waves in dispersive media. Such systems are of interest to mathematicians and physicists alike, as they are associated with many rich mathematical properties as well as concrete applications. In particular, Nicholas has primarily worked with systems in the nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) family.
