Dr. Helen Wang and her research team have had a proposal accepted for Stage One of the highly competitive Innovation Next Awards. Innovation Next is a program of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen & Unplanned Pregnancy, and aims to apply unique technology solutions to affect the behavior of teens so that pregnancy is avoided. Wang's team's application was in the top twenty percent of all applications, and placed among the 10 finalists, placing them among only eight percent of all who applied. Stage One includes an $80,000 grant to participate in a Design Thinking workshop, perform field work with the identified target audience, and apply the insights gained from fieldwork into a plan for a technology innovation. The team will then compete to be selected for Stage Two.
