Dr. Kelly Tenzek's research on death and dying in Disney and Pixar films was featured in UBNow on October 20, 2017. Tenzek has worked with co-author Bonnie Nickels, visiting lecturer at the Rochester Institute of Technology, to analyze 57 Disney and Pixar movies in which 71 character deaths occurred. Themes on death and dying emerged from the research of the films, which can serve, according to Tenzek as a platform for adults to discuss death and dying with children.Tenzek, whose research focuses on end-of-life issues, believes that the films are a way for people to become more comfortable with these issues.

The results of their research appear in Omega-Journal of Death and Dying.
