COM Doctoral Student Aisha O'Mally an Advocate for Organ Donation

Published May 9, 2017 This content is archived.

Aisha O'Mally's doctoral dissertation will focus on interviews with heart recipients about how they communicate with their transplant teams, from a few months after the transplant to many years later. Why? O'Mally, a doctoral student in the Department of Communication, understands first hand the life-changing impact of organ donation - she received a heart transplant in 2004. After a successful transplant and recovery, O'Mally decided to give back by working with Western New York organ procurement organizations to communicate the critical importance of organ donation. For more about how O'Mally's journey has led to a lifelong passion for health communication, read her inspiring story, recently featured in UB Now.
