Graduate students receive honors, fellowships, grants

The Department of Anthropology announces recent honors, grants and fellowships achieved by graduate students. Congratulations to all!

  • Rebecca Biermann-Gurbuz has been named a winner of this year's Graduate Student Excellence in Teaching Awards competition.
  • Hyunwoo Jung has been awarded a research grant from the Leakey Foundation for his dissertation research, “Developmental and functional integration in the axial skeleton of anthropoids”.
  • Brittany Kenyon-Flatt has been awarded a two-year NSF-funded postdoc fellowship for her research, “Revisiting Homo taxonomy: A geometric morphometric analysis of the hominin skeleton,” which she plans to undertake at NC State with Dr. Chris Walker in September 2020.
  • Brianna Porter received a Summer Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship for the study of Thai language at SEASSI 2020 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
