With the start of a new semester, all of us at the University at Buffalo eagerly anticipate your return to campus. Please be assured that the health and safety of our UB community remains our highest priority as we continue to work with SUNY, as well as local and state health agencies, to make informed decisions.

All students who have not yet done so are strongly encouraged to get their COVID-19 vaccination as soon as possible. Vaccines have been proven safe and effective in preventing community spread, serious illness and death.

In the interest of maintaining optimal health conditions and reducing the risk of potential community spread, all UB students will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to attend classes this fall, pending final approval from SUNY and full approval of select vaccines by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

As an additional health and safety measure, the university is requiring all students living in university owned and operated residence halls and apartments to submit proof of vaccination before moving in to their fall assignments.

Students should upload their proof of vaccination status to the UB Health Services Patient Portal prior to the start of the semester.

Students may qualify for a vaccination exemption due to medical reasons, religious beliefs or if they are taking all of their classes remotely.

While the vast majority of students have indicated they are vaccinated and excited to return to an in-person campus experience this fall, please be advised that unvaccinated students have a number of requirements they must follow.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. We look forward to welcoming you back on campus this fall.
