Workshop Request

We offer several workshop options to student groups and classes on campus.

General Workshop Request

The Career Services staff will arrange workshops to meet the special needs of your class, club, or group upon request.

UB 101 Class Workshop

Career Services is available to present to UBE 101 classes on up to two career-related topics. If you are interested in requesting a workshop, review the presentation descriptions below. Please submit your request form with at least 2 weeks' notice so that we may best accommodate you.

MyPlan Debrief: This is our standard workshop for UBE 101 and it is strongly encouraged to be used to satisfy the Planning for Your Future core topic requirement. As a self-assessment tool, MyPlan guides students to think purposefully about their academic choices and how they relate to their career goals. This 'debrief' workshop focuses on exploring the results to discover and confirm students’ interest in academic majors while also exploring related skills and the opportunities available for developing them. Taking MyPlan and attending a debrief is a component of the Finish in 4 pledge and participating in a debrief of their results from Career Services within UBE101 will satisfy this requirement for students. 50 minutes

Important Note: You must assign students to complete MyPlan AND print out the results of all three assessments (Interests Inventory, Skills Profiler, Values Assessment) prior to the scheduled date of the debrief. For instructions on how to take MyPlan and print out the results, view our below documents:

Other Workshops: Upon request, we may be available to speak to your class about a variety of special topics such as Resume Writing, Interviewing Skills, Finding a Job/Internship, & Networking.

Invite a Mentor/Employer Workshop

We work with hundreds of employers and UB Alumni who can give their perspective on career choice, internships, job searching, graduate/professional school and professional advancement. Many of these contacts live locally and would be willing to come to your residence hall or club meeting to share their experience and advice.
