UB is consistently ranked as one of the top public universities in the nation, and we’re proud to play a role in helping students succeed. When you live on campus, you’ll be surrounded by people and programs here to help you get better grades, graduate on time and achieve your full potential.
Living in UB’s residence halls and apartments is designed to be an intentional learning experience. Here, you’ll be exposed to programs based on best practices and years of experience, all designed to help you develop the skills you need to be successful at UB.
Students who live on campus have the ability to access numerous academic resources - including residential study lounges and academic success centers.
You don’t have to go to the library (or even outside!) to get help with your homework, print a paper or find a quiet place to study. Every residence hall complex—Ellicott, Governors and South Campus—has an Academic Success Center, where you’ll find study spaces, computers, resource materials and trained staff.
As a UB student, you get free, unlimited tutoring in many popular subjects. Just walk into any Academic Success Center during tutoring hours and we’ll be happy to help you in person. Or get help without leaving your room with our free, unlimited online tutoring. When it’s this easy (and free), why wouldn’t you try it?
UB is a big school, but when you live on campus you always have someone to help you. If you’re having trouble with classes (or you just want to do better), talk to your resident advisor or complex advisor. They’re specially trained to know about the many resources available at UB, so they can help connect you with the right person or program.
When you live with other students who share your academic interests, you’ll be more engaged, and have more opportunities to attend programs and events specifically designed around your interests. Many of our renowned First-Year Interest (FYI) and Living Learning Communities are focused on academic success.
Our Living Learning Communities and academic support services are only available through official UB on-campus housing. You won't find them in off-campus apartments.
