Before joining the team at UB, Katche served as a board-certified ambulatory care pharmacist at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA, and as the primary clinical pharmacist for the division of Rheumatology Allergy and Immunology. At Tufts, she worked with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to provide patient education, medication access support, pharmacotherapy consults, treatment optimization and therapy management.

Katche earned her Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration degrees at UB in 2019. She went on to complete a PGY-1 residency program in general pharmacy practice at the Cambridge Health Alliance in Boston, MA, and a PGY-2 ambulatory care residency program at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Albany, NY. Throughout her professional pursuits, Katche has honed her focus on making sure quality healthcare is available to everyone.

“Dr. Katche has provided leadership in community service drives and exceptional patient care locally, nationally, and internationally through outreach experiences with diverse populations,” says Gina Prescott, PharmD, clinical associate professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice. “She will be a tremendous addition as we expand and enhance service learning and community outreach to underserved communities.”

Katche’s areas of interest include ambulatory care, rheumatology, academia and mentoring. In her new role, she hopes to empower patients through active listening and provision of comprehensive counseling, to equip the next generation of pharmacists with the tools needed to provide patient centered and evidence-based care, and lastly to continue learning and collaborating with peers and experts in her area of practice.

“Welcoming Dr. Katche adds to our already strong core of ambulatory care clinician scientists,” says William Prescott, PharmD, department chair, clinical professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice. “With her training and experience, she is well positioned to educate students in the classroom and in practice, and to help advance our community engagement initiatives.”

Katche says she can’t think of a better place to continue her career and pursue her professional passions than at her alma mater.

“I hope to further advance the school’s goal for equity in healthcare through community outreach programs designed to meet the needs and to help bridge the gap in access for the underserved population,” says Katche. “I look forward to leveraging my experience as a clinician to develop learning opportunities that equip student pharmacists with the tools needed to excel in their role while in school and after graduation.”
