This fund supports numerous advancements related to health, energy and the environment.

The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department—part of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences—is an international leader, creating innovative technological solutions to address global challenges in the areas of health, energy and the environment.

Here, we provide an outstanding undergraduate and graduate educational experience to our students, aiming to educate and train them in the fundamental principles of chemical engineering, expose them to current trends, and prepare them for responsible, professional practice. By doing so, we produce tomorrow’s innovators and leaders in research, education, government and industry.

Our research spans all areas of chemical and biological engineering with particular emphasis in nanoscale science and engineering, computational science and engineering, and biochemical and biomedical engineering. In addition, our award-winning faculty collectively address important problems in the emerging areas of materials informatics, nanomaterials for health, energy and the environment, and stem cell bioengineering.

At UB, we are proud to be at the forefront of chemical and biological engineering research, education, and socioeconomic impact in the region and the world.
