Julian Sojda Memorial Award Endowment Fund

Nursing and Social Work students gathered as part of the BHWET Program 2019-2020 cohort.

A graduating MSW student who has demonstrated an extraordinary contribution to addictions practice, addicted trauma survivors, and/or people with coexisting psychiatric disorders receives support through this fund.

This award was established in memory of Julian Sojda, by his family, friends and colleagues. Julian was a 1994 Master of Social Work (MSW) graduate of the UB School of Social Work and an adjunct faculty member. He was also in private practice in the Western New York community.

The fund was established in 2019 by Dean Nancy J. Smyth, PhD, in memory of Sodja, to provide a monetary award to an outstanding graduating MSW student.

At UB Social Work, we’re deeply committed to helping people and societies unlock—and expand—their potential. We’re also committed to expanding our own potential, to being the best and most innovative we can be. To achieve all that, we seek your support. A generous gift from you is seed money that will grow an innovative, collaborative and effective new generation of social workers; fund breakthroughs in social work, social innovation and social-work education; and yield incalculable returns in the form of healthy, humane and sustainable societies.
