Well-rounded second- and third-year law school students receive scholarships through this fund.

The Joseph P. Peperone Memorial Fund supports scholarships for UB Law School students who are well-rounded and of exceptional character, with preference given to a graduate of a Western New York high school who has some journalism background.

The fund was established by various donors in memory of Joseph P. Peperone, a 1981 Buffalo Law graduate who was just 27, three years out of UB School of Law and newly married, when a rare cancer took his life. Peperone's father, Joseph Peperone ’57, was a family lawyer in Williamsville for many years.

The fund is “a great way to remember our brother,” said his sister Jill Giles. “I’m a professor myself, and education has always been important to our family. The UB School of Law has been part of our family for many, many years. This is a great way to promote education and do something for students who might not be able to afford the tuition.”
