Created with the intent to help prevent nuclear war, this fund brings nationally recognized guest speakers to the university.

Established during the Cold War era, the Nuclear War Prevention Studies Endowment Fund supports a periodic public lecture on topics relating to the prevention of nuclear war.

The fund was established by Dr. David G. Greene and the Nuclear War Prevention Studies Graduate Group.

The Nuclear War Prevention group has also hosted a two-day conference at UB, with distinguished guest speakers including Dr. William J. Perry, the 19th US Secretary of Defense (and author of “My Journey at the Nuclear Brink”); Cardinal Joseph L. Bernardin, known for his critism of the arms race; and George Weigel, a former consultant to the U.S. Foreign Service Institute.
