This fund supports summer research for dental students in periodontics and endodontics.

Research opportunities allow dental students to hone their skills, explore new interests and make vital contributions to the field of dental medicine.

The Dr. Arnold Stern Fund in Endodontics augments funds designated for student summer research in the Department of Periodontics and Endodontics.

The fund was established in 2003 by the Stern family to honor the memory of Dr. Arnold Stern, DDS '56.

The Department of Periodontics and Endodontics has played a pivotal role in training world-class clinicians, researchers and academicians who have now become leaders in dental education and research. A few of our luminary graduates include Dr. Lawrence A Tabak, the current Deputy Director of NIH; and Dr. Joseph Zambon, Dean of the University at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine. Our nationally and internationally recognized faculty have extensive clinical, teaching and research experience and provide exceptional training opportunities for students, scholars and researchers.

The School of Dental Medicine is a pioneer in the field—a research titan, and a shining example of the best of dental education, community engagement and global leadership. Maintaining our lead is expensive. Increasing our lead requires a $43 million investment, more visionary donors and additional philanthropic support. But the payoff is immense: With your help, our world-class research, education, clinical facilities and experiences will better prepare our students, redefine and strengthen dental medicine, and improve the health of countless millions of people.
