Albanese’s primary focus will be to assist the Director of Experiential Education with oversight of Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs). She will work collaboratively with school leadership and external partners to grow the school’s IPPE program through the establishment of new IPPE rotations. She will also monitor student progress to facilitate completion of IPPE requirements and ensure the school’s IPPE program consistently adheres to Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) standards.

Albanese joined the school as a Clinical Assistant Professor in 2002. She is a two-time recipient of the school’s Teacher of the Year Award, was awarded the University at Buffalo Teaching Innovation Award in 2018, and is presently completing the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Academic Leadership Fellows Program.

She has served in important leadership roles within the school, most notably as chair of the school’s Curriculum Committee from 2010 to 2019, as director of the PharmD Program (2018-present), and as a long-standing member of the Experiential Education Faculty Advisory Committee (2003-present), where she coordinated the Outpatient/Ambulatory Care Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) rotations.

“I have no doubt that Dr. Albanese will serve our school well in this role,” says William Prescott, PharmD, clinical professor and department chair, pharmacy practice. “She is an excellent educator, a strong leader, and has always been a good citizen of the school.”

For over 130 years, the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has continually been a leader in the education of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists, renowned for innovation in clinical practice and research. The school is accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) and is the No. 1 ranked school of pharmacy in New York State and No. 14 in the United States by U.S. News & World Report.
