Adelaide & Brendan Griswold Professorship Health Disparities Endowment

Keynote speaker Moro Salifu opens the Igniting Hope conference - a conferance focused on building a culture of health and ending African American health disparities.

By supporting faculty and students who are working toward equitable care for all citizens, this fund helps reduce health disparities throughout the community.

“We want to encourage medical students interested in working with the underserved to consider family medicine as a career choice, and we hope this will help,” said Mrs. Adelaide Griswold and The Reverend Brendan Griswold, who established this fund.

The Adelaide and Brendan Griswold Professorship in Health Disparities provides funding for faculty in UB's Department of Family Medicine to conduct primary-care research in health disparities, and supports research and scholarly activity by medical students.

UB’s Department of Family Medicine conducts patient-centered outcomes research and implements their findings in community settings, reducing health disparities among high-risk groups.

Working with clinical and community partners, the department translates research into health care delivery transformation. In the process, they improve outcomes for people subject to health disparities — namely, racial and ethnic minorities, rural and poor populations, and individuals with complex, comorbid conditions.
