Jennifer Nugent, internationally acclaimed dancer, teacher, and choreographer, danced with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance co. from 2009-14 and David Dorfman Dance from 1999-07, receiving a "Bessie" award for her work.

She has performed and worked intensively with prominent New York City choreographers Martha Clarke, Lisa Race, Doug Elkins, Bill Young, Colleen Thomas, Kate Weare, Barbara Sloan and Dale Andre. In addition to these influences, Jennifer's teaching and dancing is profoundly inspired by her time working with, performing with, and learning from Daniel Lepkoff, Wendall Beavers, Gerri Houlihan, Janet Wong, Wendy Woodson, and Patty Townsend.

Nugent was a 2008 Movement Research Artist-in-Residence in NYC and has taught and performed her own work at festivals, theaters, and universities throughout the U.S., Korea, Russia, and Vietnam. She teaches regularly in NYC and abroad and is a highly sought after guest artist who has taught and set works at numerous universities and dance festivals including the American Dance Festival and the Bates Dance Festival and top university dance programs including the Ohio State University, University of Utah, Tisch School of the Arts, and Hunter College.

During her CAI residency, Nugent will present master classes to all levels of UB dance majors. Additionally, she will present three master classes that will be open to the dance community in WNY. Finally, Nugent will create a new piece of choreography for the Zodiaque Dance Company, the UB resident student dance performance group, to be performed Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 at the Center for the Arts and at the 2017 American College Dance Conference.
