In Lessons in Drag, Kareem Khubchandani—a performance artist who works in drag, storytelling, body art, theater, and digital media—put critical theory into conversation with a lipsync performance as his alter ego, LaWhore Vagistan.
Deeply participatory, UB students representing a range of disciplines interacted with Khubchandani’s alter ego, performing alongside the artist in the CFA atrium. Organized by Department of Theatre and Dance faculty, the expected audience was 30 students. Shifting the presentation to the CFA atrium and partnering with UB Arts Collaboratory increased turnout to just shy of 140 guests.
