The UB Arts Collaboratory initiated its first yearlong Student Residency at 500 Seneca in the fall, with the goals of supporting and encouraging the development of a UB student’s artistic practice, and forging stronger ties to the cultural community in Buffalo. The multimedia artist, Hanyu Liao, was awarded the residency for 2019-2020, exhibiting the photo series, Comment on the Body, and a new performance work.
The opening reception on September 12 had a turnout of 75 guests from UB and the Buffalo community.
An outcome of the fall season of the UB Arts Collaboratory is the forthcoming cross-disciplinary artwork conceived by Hanyu Liao (UB Department of Media Study) and Mary Grace Sullivan (UB Department of Theatre and Dance) that will be developed with the Arts Collaboratory over the next five months and presented in the spring in partnership with 500 Seneca.
