Hip-hop tells the story of people, places, and things. Coming up on its 50th year anniversary in 2023, hip-hop has become the culture, lifestyle, and history of this country. With collaborations locally and nationally, the University at Buffalo Arts Collaboratory Working Artists Lab will work with hip-hop legend Grandmaster Flash and various artists in the field to dig deep into how hip-hop has cultivated stories through collaboration. Over the course of several weeks, University at Buffalo and Buffalo State College students, together with Buffalo-area artists, will build upon their stories through the foundational teachings and practices of hip-hop. There will be a final presentation through various mediums of art to bring everyone into the stories developed through the cipher of hip-hop.
