Heat illnesses can affect active individuals during the hot summer months, leading to potentially dangerous situations.  Join Dr. Riana Pryor to learn about practical ways you can stay safe and healthy during outdoor activities in the heat, including prevention, hydration and cooling strategies.

About Riana Pryor
Riana Pryor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences and is the director of the Hydration, Exercise, and Thermoregulation (HEAT) Laboratory.  Her research examines the impact of hot environments and hydration practices on physiologic responses, health, and safety of workers and athletes. Research topics include heat acclimation, work-to-rest ratios, body cooling and hydration practices. Additionally, Dr. Pryor investigates exertional heat stroke treatment and recovery as well as the impact of state high school athletic association policies on exertional heat illnesses.
