2022 Global Days of Service Events

Alumni Global Days of Service is a world-wide celebration of UB pride and a commitment to serving others. UB alumni make a direct impact by joining together in the same month to volunteer for community service and causes that are meaningful and beneficial to their own communities.

  • Denver skyline.

    Denver: Bear Valley Park Project

    Team up with your fellow Denver area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Help Denver Parks and Recreation with mulching trees, raking, weeding and more for the Bear Valley Park Project.

    Please note: This activity requires physical labor. Attendees must be capable of assisting with general grounds maintenance and wear proper exterior work attire.

  • Rochester, NY.

    Rochester: Cameron Community Ministries

    Team up with your fellow Rochester area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Assistance is needed with the Cameron Community Ministries Peace Garden to get it ready for the warmer months. Tasks will include filling and planting grow bags for giveaways, weeding, watering and even planting more tender vegetables like tomatoes.

    Turkey: Virtual Mentoring

    Team up with your fellow UB alumni in Turkey to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Volunteer to be part of a virtual mentoring event with TEV Inanc High School. Share your experience and expertise with the students and answer their questions!

    This event is virtual and will happen on Zoom.

    Singapore: The Foodbank Singapore

    Team up with your fellow Singapore area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Alumni volunteers will help with packing food items at the warehouse to be distributed to individuals and organizations.

    Please note closed toe shoes are required on site.

  • Birmingham, Alabama skyline.

    Birmingham: Ronald McDonald House of Central Alabama

    Team up with your fellow Birmingham area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Help the Ronald Mcdonald House of Central Alabama cook and serve a meal to the families staying at Ronald McDonald. You don't have to be a world-class chef to prepare a meal - you just need a warm heart.

    NYC: Community Garden Cleanup

    Team up with your fellow New York City area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Help GreenThumb Community Garden and Citizens for a Better Community Garden clean up a community garden in Brooklyn. Volunteer projects may include building, filling raised beds, spreading woodchips, planting, and cleaning up.

  • Houston, TX.

    Houston: Houston Food Bank

    Team up with your fellow Houston area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Help the Houston Food Bank, America's largest food bank, with inspecting, sorting, and repackaging of donated food items for community distribution. Your efforts will help them continue to serve over 150 million meals annually.

    Seattle: Food Lifeline

    Team up with your fellow Seattle area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Support your local food bank, Food Lifeline, at their warehouse to sort and repack nutritious food to feed those who may be experiencing food insecurity.

  • Albany.

    Albany: Mohawk Hudson Humane Society

    Team up with your fellow Albany area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Help the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society count and sort bottles for their Empties for Animals program (they raise over $100,000 annually through bottle returns!)

  • Blue Table Food Pantry volunteer stock the shelves.

    Buffalo: UB Blue Table Food Pantry

    Come show your UB pride and participate in sorting, restocking shelves, and checking expiration dates for the Blue Table Food Pantry. Blue Table is a virtual food pantry service for UB students who do not have access to food in order to off-set unanticipated hardships.

    Two dates are available for registration.

    Buffalo: School of Engineering and Applied Sciences with Sleep in Heavenly Peace

    Join your fellow WNY-based School of Engineering and Applied Sciences alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Build bunk beds with Sleep in Heavenly Peace for children and families in need.

    Philadelphia: Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission

    Team up with your fellow Philadelphia area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! You can help serve lunch to the homeless clients at Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission and bring some cheer to the day.

    Malaysia: Food Aid Foundation

    Team up with your fellow Malaysia area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Help the Food Aid Foundation prepare food to pack in bags to deliver to individual homes and areas.

  • Kuala Lumpur City Centre (HDR). Malaysia, 2012.

    Malaysia: SPCA

    Team up with your fellow Malaysia area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Alumni volunteers will help with care of pet animals at the SPCA facility and assist in raising awareness on the importance of adoption. Alumni will proceed to lunch gathering after the event.

    DC: National Park Service

    Team up with your fellow DC Metro area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! You can help in a cleanup effort of the National Park Service.

    Buffalo: School of Architecture and Planning & UB Young Alumni Leadership Council with the Bailey-Dartmouth Community Garden

    The School of Architecture and Planning & UB Young Alumni Leadership Council invite alumni to spend the morning gardening and cleaning the Bailey-Dartmouth Community Garden. Created in the memory of a young girl who lost her life in a house fire on the site and improved in the fall of 2020 by UB alumnus Darren Cotton, founder of The Tool Library, the garden now serves as a tranquil area for the community to enjoy.

    In addition to garden cleanup, alumni join together to clean the surrounding area of Bailey Avenue between Dartmouth Avenue and LaSalle Avenue. All tools and supplies will be provided by The Tool Library.

    Phoenix: United Food Bank

    Team up with your fellow Phoenix area alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Help the United Food Bank by helping to pack emergency food bags.

    India: The Association For the Mentally Challenged

    Team up with your fellow India alumni to help improve your local community during UB Alumni Global Days of Service! Help the Association for the Mentally Challenged with adult trainees with the process of weaving, candle making, paper products making, tending to the garden and Diya painting.

    Please note: cotton clothing is recommended.
