A leader and role model in the Western New York social work community, Vander Kooy is the longest-serving volunteer for the School of Social Work.

Edo Vander Kooy, MSW ’77, BS ’73, is a leader and role model in the Western New York social work community. As a 24-year employee with Community Missions, he was instrumental in the integration of trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices within mental health and addiction service delivery. Since 1978, he has served as a field educator to scores of MSW students, making him the longest-serving volunteer for the School of Social Work, influencing generations of social workers. Vander Kooy has shaped the future of the profession, one person at a time.
