Steven A. Guttenberg, DDS ’69, BA ’65 

Guttenberg recently retired from an almost 50-year career as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Washington, D.C. His career included national and international lectures, teaching, and publishing scientific articles, chapters and books. Numerous acknowledgements of his deep commitment to advocacy and education in his field include being named a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and a fellow of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Guttenberg served as president of numerous medical organizations, including the District of Columbia Dental Society. He previously received the Samuel P. Capen Award, the highest honor presented by the UB Alumni Association. Guttenberg and his spouse Diana, major donors to the School of Dental Medicine, serve on UB’s Boldly Buffalo campaign steering committee.
