One of the School of Architecture and Planning’s early graduates, Richard Perlmutter, BA ’76, is the founder of Argo Development Company, a real estate development firm in metro Washington, D.C. Since its inception, the firm has completed over 2 million square feet of development and acquisition projects throughout the Washington, Boston and New York metropolitan areas, including an award-winning redevelopment of downtown Silver Spring, Md. Perlmutter also is as a trustee and governor of the Urban Land Institute and a member of the architecture school’s Dean’s Advisory Council. His legacy of thoughtful placemaking and community development is an exemplary, real-world application of the school’s mission.
