Colleges race to hire and build amid AI ‘gold rush’

An Inside Higher Ed article on the rush amid colleges and universities to hire artificial intelligence researchers mentions National Science Foundation investments in AI, including its recent $20 million grant to UB to create the AI Institute in Exceptional Education.

The institute, led by Venu Govindaraju, SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, aims to help children with speech and language processing challenges.
