The drive will take place from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. in 07 Diefendorf Hall on UB’s South Campus.

“The NSO decided to organize this blood drive in order to assist with the shortage of blood in our local community,” says Nathan Mogenhan, traditional BS in nursing student and NSO treasurer. “As healthcare students and future health care workers, it was important for us to contribute at a community level.

According to their website, the Red Cross is experiencing “the worst blood shortage in over a decade” and says that “the dangerously low blood supply levels have forced some hospitals to defer patients from major surgery, including organ transplants.”

“Giving blood is a great opportunity for University students to serve the community that they are based in. Blood is in high demand and this is the perfect opportunity to contribute and save lives in the future because of said contribution,” Mogenhan says.

To participate in the NSO blood drive, or to search for other options, visit the American Red Cross Find A Drive page to make an appointment. ID is required.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred.

Outcome

  • Donors: 37
  • Units of blood: 33
